Why Apple AirPods Case Not Charging?

AirPods Case Not Charging

AirPods and AirPods Pro are great wireless earphones for Apple products. Recently, Apple announced their third-generation earphone with a new design. It’s one of the most comfortable wireless earphones for listening to music and watching movies.

AirPods gives 24-hours battery backup with an Airpod case and 5 hours listening time. Overall, it’s an excellent backup for truly wireless earbuds. But, if the AirPods case stops charging, then it becomes annoying.

Let’s have a look at the various reasons why AirPods Case Not Charging-

1. Faulty Lightning Cable

Faulty Lightning Cable

Unlike any other brand, Apple still uses its lightning port in its devices. The lightning cable provided in the box is not durable (maybe Apple purposely did this).

Lightning cable is not as durable as the type-C cable used by other smartphone brands. If your AirPods case is not charging, then check your Lightning cable first. It could be due to a faulty lightning cable.

You can insert that cable in your iPhone to verify if it’s working or not. If that cable does not charge your iPhone, then it’s time to buy a new lightning cable for your device.

2. Clean The Charging Port

We usually carry our AirPods in jeans or bags which attracts dust. Dust is an insulator of electricity and it prevents the current flow. If you haven’t cleaned your AirPods charging port recently then there is possible that dust or other small particles are accumulated.

If your charging cable is working then possible dust is accumulated in the Airpods charging port. Just take some alcohol-based cleaner (screen cleaner) and clean your charging port with a soft cloth.

3. Check Power Adaptor

Apple Power Adaptor

Your Apple Power Adaptor is the source of power supply to your Airpods case. If your lightning cable is working and the charging port is clean then something might not be good with power adaptor.

Check your power adaptor and verify that it’s generating DC current output. Plug your iPhone or any other Apple device to check if the power adaptor is working or not. If something wrong with the power adaptor, order a new Apple adaptor.

4. Reset Your AirPods Case

If your power adaptor is in a good state, the lightning cable is perfect, and the charging port is clean then it’s time to reset your Airpods case. There could be some software issue with your Airpods.

Your AirPods case comes with a physical setup button. Locate the setup button on the back of the AirPods Case and press and hold for 15 seconds. You’ll see an Amber then White light on AirPods case. It means your device is reset to the default state.

Now, plug in the lightning cable and see if it charge. Do not forget to check the charging state of your device. Just connect to any iOS device and you’ll see the charging level of AirPods and Airpod Case.

5. Contact Apple Support

Most probably, these steps will fix the AirPods Pro Case not charging issue. However, if it is still not fixed then there could be some hardware issue and you’ve to bring it to your nearest Apple Care.
