Why is Apple AirPods Case Not Charging?
Your AirPods case won’t charge if dirt or debris blocks the lightning port. Some other reasons, like faulty lightning cables, defective adapters, or faulty wall outlet also contribute to charging issues.
Let’s have a look at the various reasons why AirPods Case is Not Charging-
1. Faulty Lightning Cable
Unlike any other brand, Apple still uses its lightning port in its devices. The lightning cable in the box is not durable (maybe Apple purposely did this).
Lightning cable is not as durable as the type-C cable used by other smartphone brands.
If your AirPods case is not charging, check your lightning cable first. It could be because your lightning cable is broken or frayed.
You can insert that cable into your iPhone to verify if it’s working or not. If that cable does not charge your iPhone, it’s time to buy a new lightning cable.
2. Clean The Charging Port
We usually carry our AirPods in our jeans pockets, which attracts dust. Dust is an insulator of electricity, and it prevents the current flow.
If you haven’t cleaned your AirPods recently, dust or other small particles may be accumulated in the lightning port.
If your charging cable is working, then possible dust is accumulated in the AirPods charging port.
Take some alcohol-based cleaner (screen cleaner) and clean your charging port with a soft cloth.
3. Check Power Adaptor
Your Apple Power Adaptor is the power supply source for your AirPods case.
If your lightning cable is working and the charging port is clean, then something might not be good with the power adaptor.
Check your power adaptor and verify that it’s generating DC output. Plug in your iPhone or any other Apple device to check whether the power adaptor is working.
Order a new Apple adaptor if something is wrong with the power adaptor.
4. Reset Your AirPods Case
If your power adaptor is in a good state, the lightning cable is perfect, and the charging port is clean, it’s time to reset your AirPods case. There could be some software issue with your AirPods.
- Your AirPods case comes with a physical setup button. Locate the setup button on the back of the AirPods Case and press and hold for 15 seconds.
- You’ll see an Amber, then White light on the AirPods case. It means your device is reset to the default state.
- Now, plug in the lightning cable and see if it charges. Do not forget to check the charging state of your device.
- Just connect to any iOS device, and you’ll see the charging level of AirPods and Airpod Case.
5. Contact Apple Support
These steps will probably fix the AirPods Pro Case not charging issue. However, if it is still not fixed, there could be some hardware issue, and you’ve to bring it to your nearest Apple Care.

What do I do if my AirPod case won’t charge?
First of all, inspect your charging cable and ensure that it doesn’t have any signs of damage. Change the cable or connect with your family members’ cable. Do a hard reset if your AirPods case won’t charge.
How do you know if your AirPod case is charging?
You’ll see an Amber light glowing when you connect the lightning cable to your AirPods case. It means your Airpod case is charging. You can also check the charging status on your iPhone.
What happens if your AirPod case dies?
If your AirPod case dies, you can still connect your AirPods to your iPhone or MacBook. You can charge your Airpods in someone else case or buy a new Airpod case from Amazon.
Can you charge the AirPod case by itself?
Yes! You can charge the Airpod case with or without Airpods placed in it.
Can you use another Airpod case to charge?
Yes! You can charge your Airpods in someone else case if your Airpod case dies.
Why are my AirPods charging but not the case?
If both AirPods are charging but the case is not, connect it with another charging cable or charge it wirelessly.
Apple is known for manufacturing quality products. However, there is still a chance that you’ll receive a defective product. Follow the above checklist, and if it is still not fixed, then bring your AirPods to the Apple Care store. They’ll probably replace your AirPods and give you a new one.
