How To Fix Fitbit Versa 2 That Won’t Charge?
You already know the common reasons why a Fitbit won’t charge. Here’s how to fix the charging problem on any Fitbit model:
1. Place The Fitbit On The Charger
It might sound awkward, but it actually works. Take off your Fitbit from the charger and place it again. Some Fitbit charger models have a squarish-boxy design that needs attention.
So, while placing your Fitbit on the charger, ensure that it securely fits in and charging pins on the charger match the charging pins of the watch.
2. Clean The Metal Contacts
If you look at the backside of your Fitbit Versa 2, you’ll see four metal contacts touching the charger’s metal pins. Due to sweat and dust, a layer of wax is formed on the metal contacts, which prevents your Fitbit from charging.
To fix this, take a few drops of rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) on a microfiber cloth and rub it on the backside of the watch and the charger. This will break the wax build-up, and your Fitbit will start charging again.
3. Change The USB Hub
If you use an extension board with USB to charge your Fitbit, I recommend you try another USB hub. The amperage rating of the USB hub on an extension board is not designed for any specific device. If you get an error message “insufficient power source” on your Fitbit screen, remove the other connected devices from the power source or try another power source.
You can try the USB hub of another device, like a power bank or laptop, that provides high amperage output.
4. Charge With A Power Adapter
The manufacturer recommends charging your Fitbit on a normal wall adapter. You can use a smartphone charger of up to 10W to charge your Fitbit Versa 2. A fast charger will provide higher current output, which damages your device’s internals.

6. Charge For 30 Minutes

Place your Fitbit tracker on the charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes without interrupting it.
7. Restart And Reset Your Fitbit
Your Fitbit is also a computer that tracks and calculates various data. So, you can restart your device to fix any software glitch.
Follow these steps to restart a Fitbit Versa 2:
- Press and hold the tracker button on the watch’s left side.
- Release the button once the Fitbit logo appears on the screen.
- Wait for 10 seconds to reboot your device.
Once your Fitbit is rebooted, follow these steps to factory reset:
