There are many workarounds to solve the iPhone charging issue, but I’m sharing the easy and working methods only.

1. Force Restart Your iPhone

Do you remember when you shut down your iPhone last time? Your iPhone is an electronic device, and it needs some rest.

Usually, the charging issue is encountered due to a software glitch. A force restart can solve many software glitches.

If you face apps lagging, overheating, or charging issues with your iPhone, the first thing you should do is- force restart.

You can follow these steps to restart your iPhone XS:

  • Press and hold the Power button and Volume Up button together for 3 seconds.
  • Release both the buttons when you see the “SOS” menu.
  • On the top of the screen, you’ll see a slider: “Slide to power off“.
  • Slide the power off slider to shut down your iPhone.
  • Wait for 10 seconds and then press and hold the Power button and release it when the Apple logo appears.
  • Enter your passcode to enable Face ID.

That’s it! Your iPhone has been restarted. Now, plug in the lightning cable to charge it.

If the above steps not working, you can force restart your iPhone by following these steps:

  • Quickly press the Volume Up and Volume Down button and then press and hold the Power button.
  • Don’t release the power button until your iPhone reboot.
  • Release the button when the screen goes up, and the Apple logo appears.

That’s it! Your iPhone Xs has been forced reboot. Now, connect your lightning cable to see if it started charging or not. If not, move to the next solution.

2. Inspect Your Lightning Cable

Believe it or not but the quality of Apple’s lightning cable is really bad as compared to type C cables.

However, we don’t have many options left. If your Apple lightning cable is too old, then you really need to inspect it thoroughly.

If you notice any sign of damage, replace it immediately. You can order an MFI-certified lightning cable from Amazon.

3. Try a Different Power Outlet

Although it’s rare, sometimes our power outlet is faulty, and we check everything else.

You should insert your power adapter into a different outlet. You can insert the lightning cable into your Macbook to check if your iPhone is charging or not.

4. Update iOS

If you haven’t updated your iOS for long, then it’s recommended to update your iOS to the latest version.

Follow these steps to update iOS:

  • Go to Settings.
  • Tap on General.

  • Enter your lock passcode.

5. Cool Down Your iPhone
